Description :

Black & Decker Workmate Portable Clamping Workbench WM425 Model

This is a Black & Decker Workmate WM425, a portable folding workbench designed for a wide range of construction and DIY applications. It features a dual-height steel frame with a foot pedal for stability and fold-flat storage capability. The work surface consists of two wooden panels with adjustable crank handles used to clamp materials in place. The upper panel has multiple dog holes to accommodate included plastic pegs, which expand the clamping capacity for irregular or larger items. The bench includes a lower support brace and integrated handle for portability. Designed for sawing, sanding, drilling, and assembly tasks, the Workmate allows the user to secure workpieces without a traditional vise or fixed bench.

First introduced in the early 1970s and evolving over multiple model generations, the Workmate became one of Black & Decker’s most successful innovations in workshop equipment. The WM425 version, produced in the early 2000s, represented a refined upgrade with a wider stance and improved clamping mechanisms tailored for hobbyists, carpenters, and contractors needing portability combined with workholding flexibility. This model is an example of practical industrial design geared toward home and field use alike.
