Description :
Mid-Century Blue-Green Glazed Ceramic Jar with
Wooden Lid Handle This wheel-thrown stoneware vessel features a
distinctive blue-green glaze with natural variation and oxidation effects
throughout the surface. The jar displays horizontal ribbing on the upper
portion and vertical fluting on the lower section, creating textural interest.
The lid incorporates an ingenious wooden handle system where a natural branch
or driftwood piece is secured through ceramic lugs with fiber cord lashing. The
interior shows a complementary glaze application while the base remains
unglazed, revealing the speckled clay body typical of mid-century studio
pottery. The piece demonstrates skilled craftsmanship in both ceramic
construction and the integration of organic wooden elements. Mid-20th century (1950s-1960s), American studio
pottery movement when artisans combined traditional ceramic techniques with
innovative functional design elements. Measurements: 1 3/4"W x 2 1/2"H
