Description :

Silver-plated Teapot By Mappin & Webb, 2 Scallop Shell-Shaped Bowls

This is a silver-plated teapot by **Mappin & Webb**, a prestigious British silversmith and jeweler founded in 1774. It’s marked “Princes Plate” with “EPNS” (Electroplated Nickel Silver), indicating high-quality electroplating over a nickel silver base.

Mappin & Webb was renowned for creating luxury silverware and served as royal warrant holders, making pieces for British royalty. This teapot likely dates from the late 1800s to early 1900s and represents the fine craftsmanship Sheffield was famous for. The fluted design and substantial feel reflect the quality standards that made Mappin & Webb one of Britain’s most respected silversmiths.

Also included are 2 scallop shell-shaped bowls made of brass or similar metal with a golden finish. They feature the characteristic fan-shaped ridged pattern of scallop shells and are marked “MADE FOR BLACK STAR & FROST” on the back.

Black, Starr & Frost was a prestigious American luxury jewelry and silverware company, indicating these are high-quality decorative pieces likely from the late 1800s or early 1900s. They would have been used as serving dishes or trinket bowls in well-appointed homes of that era.
