Description :
Silver-Plate Ice Bucket, Pedestal Compote Bowl, Platers & Napkin Rings Silver-plated pedestal compote bowl is a fine example of American decorative arts from the Rogers Bros. 1847 company, a prominent silverware manufacturer. The piece features the characteristic ribbed detailing found on Victorian-era serving pieces, with elegant reeded patterns around both the shallow bowl’s rim and the pedestal base. The bottom bears clear markings including “Rogers” in script lettering, “SILVER PLATED,” and “1847,” which was the company’s trademark commemorating the year the Rogers brothers began silver plating. This type of footed serving bowl was an essential piece in formal dining settings of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, typically used for presenting fruit, nuts, or other delicacies to guests. The craftsmanship and design reflect the period’s emphasis on elegant table presentation and the growing middle-class desire for refined household items that mimicked more expensive sterling silver pieces.
