Description :

Vintage Bride’s Basket & Vintage Wallace Sterling Silver Trivet

This is a beautiful vintage bride’s basket, a type of decorative serving piece that was extremely popular as a wedding gift from the late 1800s through the early 1900s. The piece features an ornate metal bowl with intricate scrollwork and floral patterns, held by an elegant wire handle frame that allows for easy carrying and display. While originally given to newlyweds (hence the name “bride’s basket”), these versatile pieces served multiple purposes in the home - from holding fresh fruit and displaying cakes to serving as stunning decorative centerpieces. The maker’s mark visible on the bottom suggests this is a quality piece from that era, representing the craftsmanship and attention to detail that made these baskets such cherished gifts and household treasures.

This is a vintage Wallace sterling silver trivet, pattern #7322, featuring an ornate Victorian-inspired design with intricate floral and scrollwork motifs. The piece has a scalloped, shell-like rim with elaborate decorative patterns covering the surface, and small feet on the bottom for heat dissipation. Designed to protect dining tables and countertops from hot cookware, this elegant trivet combines practical functionality with formal dining aesthetics. As a product of Wallace, a well-known American silverware manufacturer, this mid-20th century piece represents the era when decorative serving accessories were essential elements of sophisticated entertaining.
